Global MBA participants at S P Jain, Dubai attend the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport event

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the pre-eminent independent professional body for individuals associated with logistics, supply chains and all transport throughout their careers. As the focus for professional excellence and the development of the most modern techniques in logistics and transport, CILT aims to encourage the adoption of policies that are both efficient and sustainable.

The participants of S P Jain School of Global Management from Logistics and Supply Chain stream, had an opportunity to attend the CILT (UAE) event on 30th October, 2011 held at Emirates Aviation College in Dubai. The theme for the event was "Where the Logistics Industry is taking us". The event gave insights into the involvement of entities like Strategy, Policies, Infrastructure and People in the Logistics operation in UAE region. The Key Note from Mr. Steve Agg - CEO, CILT UK, presented the roadmap of how the UK transport will evolve over the next 25 years and also how the transport facilities and operations can be made effective. The presentation from Mr. Mohsen Al Awadhi, who is the Board Member of Dubai World Central and CILT, gave an insight into the present and future of Logistics in UAE and on how UAE is positioning itself to be a center of excellence in Logistics. This was followed by a panel discussion where the participants were able to interact with the panelists and could get their views on more specific queries.

The participants had an opportunity to interact and network with distinguished attendees at the event from all over UAE who have been associated with supply chain and logistics in this region for a good part of their career. This was an enriching experience for the cohort, also, as it came at an early stage of their stint in Dubai. This event also enabled them to market the brand S P Jain School of Global Management among the distinguished attendees at this event who belonged to various top organizations in the Middle East.

The feedback of the cohort on this event was positive and encouraging with major takeaways being 'networking with industry professionals', a unanimous takeaway for almost everyone, and also getting an early insight into the logistics industry in GCC.

As Sanchit, participant at S P Jain, wrote in his feedback, "It helped us in understanding the logistics industry in GCC. I had a nice and useful interaction with industry professionals" and Rohit, student S P Jain, said," Very interesting way to get a glimpse of industry movements and also the interaction with the industry professionals was enriching. I would like the school to take us to more such events."

To sum it up, the event has already gained popularity among the participants and their expectations have been duly met by CILT's broad coverage of topics in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain. They look forward to attend more such events organized by CILT in days to come.
