We are thrilled to share that SP Jain School of Global Management’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) student, Megna Kalvani, was part of the winning team to bag the first position during the outcome presentation at the Innovation Management & Leadership Certification Program (IMLEAP) hosted by Innovation Think Tank, Siemens Healthineers.
Over 17 institutions participated in the program and worked in teams. Ms Kalvani was part of a 4-member team that included a diverse set of members from NYU Abu Dhabi, Hamdan Smart University, SRM University Chennai and SP Jain. A total of 9 teams competed on different disease pathways specific to the UAE-specific diseases, symptoms and challenges, and created solution scenarios. Ms Kalvani’s team’s poster presentation was on the evolving healthcare industry in the UAE, gauging the trends and challenges in the UAE, first-hand research on patient experience (through hospital visits) and identifying different key opinion leaders/stakeholders’ pain-points in the healthcare ecosystem.
The crux of the challenge and the winning aspect of the team’s presentation was the proposed solution for their selected disease i.e. cardiovascular disease – one of the leading causes of death in the region and globally. The team’s solution called “Cardio-Qalbi” (Qalbi is ‘my heart’ in Arabic) was an integrated innovative platform that takes care of your heart and had a variety of features to ensure prevention and diagnosis. The presentation was judged by a 12-member jury of healthcare professionals (from NMC, Aster, Al Zahra and Emirates hospital, among others) and industry experts from Siemens’ business wing on November 20, 2019.
“Being a participant, it was undoubtedly an amazing learning experience to be part of the Innovation Think Tank powered by Siemens for we understood the future of healthcare, interacted with a stimulated group of student thinkers/ambassadors from different universities and diverse backgrounds to engage and solve healthcare problems using innovation and more,” shares Megna Kalvani, SP Jain’s DBA student (Batch 4).
“We were mentored by Prof Sultan Haider, Founder and Head – Innovation Think Tank, Siemens Healthineers, Erlangen, Germany. It was an enriching experience to contribute to society via an Innovation Think Tank. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Shital Vakhariya (Senior Manager, IIP, SP Jain) for recommending this opportunity; sincere gratitude to Dr Gary Stockport (Professor – Strategy, Dean – Executive MBA and Chair – Exam Board, SP Jain), Prof Christopher Abraham (Professor and Head of Campus – Dubai, SP Jain) and Dr Koilakuntla Maddulety (Associate Professor and Deputy Director – DBA, SP Jain) for their patience, support and good wishes.”
