Ritansh Jain, hailing from Rajasthan, had completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. My entrepreneurial journey started around 8 years ago when I came to Singapore along with the other co-founders of our company to start Comm-IT Consultancy Services – an IT consulting firm. It was around the same time that I got accepted into the SP Jain Executive MBA program, and I could immediately see a difference in how I handled business. I used to apply the learnings from my class directly to the company operations, and we were soon able to expand our start-up to the other parts of ASEAN. One of the most important learnings from my MBA journey was that what matters is not what you think, but what your customers think. Design thinking may seem like a recent buzzword to many – but what people often do not know is that all successful businesses have been applying this concept forever.

My story started on January 9, 2016, when I first moved to Singapore. Before this, I was working as a vet and an export technical manager of a pharmaceutical company based in Italy. Having completed my PhD in Veterinary Medicine, my studies opened several lucrative doors for me in the agro-zoo-veterinary sector. However, my goal was to start managing a leading organisation and increase their performance, and I had absolutely no experience in this area.

After having completed the program in April 2017 (MGB May 2016 Batch ), Abhishek Chahar, a Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management student interviewed with IKEA. As an international brand that is setting up its base in India, IKEA’s recruitment process was exhaustive and stringent. In a company that doesn’t think of any work small or big— IKEA sought professionals who were ready to roll up their sleeves and take responsibility. Talent will get you the opportunity, but it is your attitude that will eventually determine your success.
Internships not only enhance classroom learning by integrating academic curriculum and real-world work experience but allow students to test out their interests and develop their long-range career plans.
Internship programs also help develop students’ overall maturity by strengthening resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, self-confidence, self-discipline and build a sense of responsibility. This is one of the main reasons why, at SP Jain, all MGB (Masters in Global Business) students take up 4 months of mandatory internship.

Throughout my journey as a Career Counsellor and an Executive Coach, I’ve seen quite a few candidates excel in their interviews.
