It was a big surprise for me when my name was called by our beloved Dean, Dr. Balakrishna Grandhi, for winning the Global Achievement Award during our Virtual Graduation Ceremony 2020. I knew beforehand that I was part of the Dean’s List from the Consulting Management stream, but the Global Achievement Award was an unexpected and thoroughly pleasant surprise!

At SP Jain, we believe that the skills you gain in your classroom are of little value unless you know how to apply them in the real world. Internships and live industry projects not only enhance classroom learning, but also allow students to test out their interests and develop long-term career plans. This is one of the main reasons why all the students of SP Jain’s Master of Global Luxury Management (MGLuxM) take up a mandatory 2-month internship or live project towards the end of their program, graduating with in-depth knowledge and expertise about the luxury industry.

Ritansh Jain, hailing from Rajasthan, had completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. He wanted to pursue his postgraduate studies in the field of luxury and chose SP Jain School of Global Management and MIP Politecnico di Milano’s Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management program (Class of 2018). He now has an exciting role as a Luxury and Fashion PR Executive at Amigos Communications, a media and news company, in Mumbai. We caught up with Ritansh to learn how the program helped him develop the skills essential for his dynamic work.

My entrepreneurial journey started around 8 years ago when I came to Singapore along with the other co-founders of our company to start Comm-IT Consultancy Services – an IT consulting firm. It was around the same time that I got accepted into the SP Jain Executive MBA program, and I could immediately see a difference in how I handled business. I used to apply the learnings from my class directly to the company operations, and we were soon able to expand our start-up to the other parts of ASEAN. One of the most important learnings from my MBA journey was that what matters is not what you think, but what your customers think. Design thinking may seem like a recent buzzword to many – but what people often do not know is that all successful businesses have been applying this concept forever.

A commerce graduate from Bangalore’s Christ University, Rishab Bhansali had done a couple of internships and spent a few years working with his family’s business before enrolling for SP Jain’s Master of Global Business (MGB) program in 2018. Global MBA 2014 graduate Sourabh Joshi was always drawn to the world of start-ups. But it wasn’t until he got an opportunity to build a digital logistics platform at FarEye that he discovered his true potential. Not only was he a part of the business and strategy team working with the founders, but he also got an opportunity to manage different functions like business development, sales, account management, and pre-sales.
