Born and raised in a business family in the financial capital of India, Niket Mehta (Global MBA Class of 2020) was always familiar with the daily hassles of running a business. It was a big surprise for me when my name was called by our beloved Dean, Dr. Balakrishna Grandhi, for winning the Global Achievement Award during our Virtual Graduation Ceremony 2020. I knew beforehand that I was part of the Dean’s List from the Consulting Management stream, but the Global Achievement Award was an unexpected and thoroughly pleasant surprise!

Karan Mehta, a member of the early Global MBA cohorts at SP Jain Global, went on an exciting professional journey. Starting as a management trainee, he climbed the ladder step by step to become a CEO at Easybuy, Landmark Group, a feat he accomplished before turning 40. Besides endorsing constant, incremental improvement and nurturing a workplace ethos, Karan orchestrates his troops through a dynamic corporate landscape.

Industry Interface Projects offer practical learning experiences to our students and this helps them translate abstract knowledge into practice. To help students gain the best real-life industry experience, the scope and deliverables of the projects are finalized in consultation with SP Jain’s corporate partners. These are strategy-focused projects where our students work as consultants on real-life challenges faced by companies and recommend business strategies by synthesizing the program learning outcomes.

Back when I started my career in the Life Insurance industry as a 20-year-old, I did not realise that I would be able to grow so much in just over half a decade even without a formal business degree. 6 years and 5 promotions later, I was heading a team of 20 Managers across 3 states, and realised that I might just have what it takes. A few years later, after a lot of morning classes, weekend preparations and with the help of some amazing faculty and administration, I managed to complete my Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB) as well. This was going to be my entry ticket to the career of my dreams. My journey had just started.
