Dubai campus started the year 2016 with new cohorts of postgraduate students. SP Jain staff welcomed the new students to the “global city” of the Middle East. The students had 3 days of orientation sessions.
The activities on the first day of orientation include welcoming the students, program overviews, and lamp lighting and student pledge. On the second day, apart from orientations from different departments, students were also given the chance to introduce themselves. At the end of day 2, the students headed to Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), where they got to see a glimpse of Dubai on its busy hours. Upon reaching SMCCU, the students were welcomed by traditional architectures of the Centre. The students were warmly greeted by the staff of SMCCU headed by Mr. Nasif, SMCCU’s director. Mr. Nasif imparted his vast knowledge on Islamic culture and the Arab region to the students. He even showed the students the Middle East’s traditional dresses along with its benefits. All throughout their stay at SMCCU, students were served Arabic coffee, tea plus a sumptuous dinner. The last day of orientation got more exciting because of the drumming session. The students were all hyped from the beginning until the end of the session. The session includes drumming performance, team building activities and dancing to the beat of the drums!
What a great way to start a year for the postgraduates!
