On October 2, 2019, our Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) September 2019 cohort, with an innate interest to learn the history and traditions of Singapore, visited the Parliament. Organised by the Global Learning team, the visit gave our students (Jaguars) the opportunity to learn about the Singapore parliamentary system of government, roles and functions, and various personalities in the house.
The students were initially shown a short video which gave them a brief idea about the inner workings of the Parliament. Later, they got an opportunity to discover what happens on a Sitting Day as they sat at the opposition’s seats acting as parliamentarians whilst learning how laws are made, the mechanism of the sessions and speaker roles.
Sharing her experience, Tanisha Bajaj, BBA September 2019 cohort student, said, “We dressed up like global business leaders and headed towards the Parliament of Singapore for our very enriching student life experience. I was contemplating the entire way back about what I learnt. It was easy to obtain power, but to exercise that power is the real challenge.”
