Mirzam is a very new brand of luxury chocolates and the only ‘bean to bar’ chocolate manufacturer in UAE. Named after one of the brightest stars in the night sky, ‘Mirzam’ caters to a very specific niche market with their completely natural and preservative-free products.
On reaching the location, students were first given a tour and detailed information on how every cocoa bean is sourced, stored, processed and then finally made into the exquisite chocolate bars. Students were also shown all of the processes that are part of the entire chocolate making journey from roasting and grinding to tempering and wrapping. Finally came the students’ most awaited part of the trip; the chocolate tasting. To devour and truly understand the chocolate, our jags were given a quick guide on each of Mirzam’s flavors as well as the right way of tasting the chocolate.
Post the delicious tasting, the students had a quick Q&A session with the managers of the factory and gained several insights on the enterprise. They learned the different strategies that a start up like Mirzam uses to establish itself in the UAE market and also linked this real world learning to their classroom courses. The students even signed up for another tasting session at the Mirzam factory!
“Our visit to Mirzam was genuinely so much more fun as well as informative than what we had expected. It’s really interesting to see all aspects of such a unique and growing business because you get to observe first-hand how their everyday operations are conducted.”
