People are a company's biggest asset. But what about the careers that are being replaced by Artificial Intelligence and automation? To answer questions like these and address the current HR challenges, SP Jain School of Global Management organised a one-day seminar for leading HR professionals of the UAE at the Dubai campus.

The seminar included a Keynote Address by Prof Christopher Abraham, CEO & Head of Campus - SP Jain, Dubai and Senior Vice President - Institutional Development, SP Jain School of Global Management. In his address, he discussed the future of HR in the age of disruption, the myths about HR becoming irrelevant in near future and the takeover of Artificial Intelligence in the field of HR.
Prof Chris said, “Automation, like earlier technologies, has and will create more jobs. The human system will keep trying to improve the workplace.” He added that according to a PwC report, automation in the UK will create more than 300,000 jobs in future and, as individuals, the only way to progress with these changes is to learn, un-learn and re-learn the right skills and be prepared for these jobs.
He also talked about the Gig Economy, a new trend emerging where temporary positions are common and organisations contract with independent workers for short-term engagements, a phenomenon commonly known as freelancing. The HR in such situations will play a crucial role in the recruitment process, people engagement, the loyalty of employees, etc.
The keynote speech was followed by an engaging panel discussion on ‘The Role of HR in Growing Companies’. Members of the panel, which was moderated by Priyal Pandya, Manager - EMBA, SP Jain Dubai, included:
- Chandrasekhar Singh, Global Director - Corporate Relations, SP Jain School of Global Management
- Marko Selaković, Senior Manager - Institutional Development, SP Jain School of Global Management
- Pranshul Chauhan, Head - HR Strategy, RAK Bank, Dubai & Alumnus of SP Jain School of Global Management
- Satish Austin, Head - HR, Protiviti Consulting
Pranshul Chauhan, Head - HR Strategy, RAK Bank, Dubai, said, “Business is a personality. The HR cannot work all by itself. Every function works in sync with other functions in a business. Lack or inefficiency in any one of the functions will hamper the growth and sustainability of a business.”
The seminar concluded with a Q&A session in which the audience asked questions to know more about the skills required to stay relevant in the field of HR.
