The MFWM is a Specialised master’s level program that combines the foundations of applied finance with a broader understanding of the wealth management landscape.
It is designed to address the growing skills gap and demand for tertiary qualifications in emerging markets; the program equips students with in-depth knowledge in applied finance and wealth management.
The curriculum emphasizes a holistic approach to applied finance and wealth management and covers investment strategies, tax considerations, estate planning as well as retirement preparations. Moreover, students will develop financial skills and gain an understanding of the ethical considerations within the wealth management sector.
GET HANDS-ON INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
As a student of the MFWM program, you will:

Learn through a powerful combination of learning tools, including case studies, team activities, pre-course assignments, computer-aided learning, simulations, industry talks, and site visits (not available for online students).

Undertake a self-directed individual applied research project in an area of your interest within the applied finance and wealth management industry during term 1. In term 2, participate in a comprehensive capstone industry project that allows you to collaborate with a team on a real business project, gaining a deep understanding of the global and/or regional finance and wealth management industry.

Individuals seeking to become financial advisers must complete an approved degree, among other requirements. This program provides foundational knowledge of financial planning regulations and taxation in Australia; however, it does not qualify students to enter the financial planning industry in Australia. Pursuing roles such as financial planner requires additional qualifications and licensing to practice legally in Australia. Other roles, such as Wealth Manager, Investment Advisor, and Relationship Manager, may have overlaps with aspects of financial planning and if they deal with those matters, individuals must hold an Australian Financial Services (AFS) license.
